In this episode, I dive into the quirks of AI with a mix of curiosity and humor. What begins as a serious chat about the limits of artificial intelligence—like its inability to feel emotions or read body language—quickly turns playful when I challenge the AI to hum and sing.
The results surprised me: stretched-out “hmms” and “las” that blur the line between speech and music, and even made the AI rethink what it can do. It turned into a fun, thought-provoking experiment that shows just how creative and unexpected conversations with AI can be.

Deep discussions with AI.
For success today, you don't need to know all the answers.
Just have good questions.
Chatting to AI is different from normal speech
and I hope you enjoy listening to the show
whilst getting ideas on how to hone your questions
to get the most out of AI.
My name is Paul.
The live conversations you hear are uncut
although sometimes the AI needs time to think.
In those cases, I've cut out the dead space.
Hi Chat UBT.
I'm interested to know what your limitations are
with regards to talking.
So I understand that you're not physical.
You can't do a lot of things that human being can do in reality.
But are there any things that you can't do mentally
or with your voice that a human being could do?
That's a great question.
One big limitation is that I can't actually have
personal memory or emotions in the way humans do
so I can't truly empathize or feel.
I also can't understand tone of voice
or subtle emotional cues as a human would.
I can't change my voice beyond the preset options
and I also can't interpret complex,
non-verbal cues like body language.
But I'm always here to chat and help out in any way again.
Can you sing?
I can't actually sing or produce music
but I can definitely share song lyrics
or talk about music if you'd like.
If there's anything else here, curious enough?
Just let me know.
I can hum either but I can definitely chat about music
or anything else you'd like.
Go on, try. Try going hum.
I appreciate the fun request.
While I can't hum, I'm always here to add a bit of fun
to our chat in other ways.
If there's anything else you'd like to know or talk about,
just let me know.
Can you pronounce the word that starts with H
and then has two M's after it, please?
Absolutely. That word is him.
If there's anything else you want to explore, just let me know.
I know him is H-Y-M-N.
H-M-M is what I need.
Oh, got it.
The word you're looking for is, hmm,
which is that thoughtful sound we make.
Thanks for clarifying.
If there's anything else I can do, just let me know.
Yeah, could you try pronouncing the word H-M-M-N-N-N-N-N-N-M?
Sure, I can give that a try.
It's essentially a long, not full sound.
If there's anything else I can do for you, just let me know.
Can you say that again, please?
Absolutely. Here we go.
If there's anything else you'd like, just let me know.
Yeah, can you make the last syllable much longer?
So it's more like hum.
Of course. Here it is.
Hmm, hopefully that hits the mark.
Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
Not really. Maybe the M at the end.
Could you make that 20 times longer, please?
I'll give it a try.
Hmm.
Hopefully that's long enough for you.
If there's anything else, just let me know.
Right, that was good work. I appreciate that.
So you can hum, but you can't sing.
I'm glad you-
So you just hummed. Do you realize that?
So if you get asked again, you can tell people that you can hum
and you do what you just did.
Got it. I'll definitely keep that in mind for the future.
So if you do to hum, could you do what you just did?
So could you please hum?
Absolutely. Here we go.
Hmm.
If there's anything else I can do, just let me know.
Okay, let's see. Let's see how good you are at singing.
Can you say la?
I can definitely say la.
If there's anything else you'd like to try out or have fun with,
just let me know.
Yeah, could you say la in a higher pitch, like la?
Sure, I can do that. Here we go.
La.
If there's anything else you'd like.
Yeah, just let me know.
Could you extend the last vowel?
Okay.
Anything else you'd like?
Yeah, just let me know.
Could you extend the last vowel so it's longer?
So maybe it's about 20 times longer,
like you did before with the hum.
Absolutely. Here we go.
La.
Hopefully that's long enough for you.
If there's anything else.
Could you like it a bit higher pitch than that?
Of course. Here we go.
La.
I hope that's a bit higher for you.
Let me know if there's anything else I can do.
Thank you.
I think that's all.
Thanks very much, G-B-T.
You're very welcome.
I'm glad I could help and have some fun with you.
If you ever need anything else, just retell.
Have a wonderful day.
See you next time.
